Associate Director of Program Services

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Coordinate the daily function of the residential programs

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. To evaluate, provide supervision and evaluations to shift supervisors using efficient, effective personnel management practices; and to ensure adequate staffing schedules at all times in the program services area.
  2. To complete administrative duties as directed such as tracking staff meeting attendance and training of an individual programs.
  3. To substitute as supervisor for other programs in the absence of the supervisor.
  4. To provide on-site emergency support.
  5. To work closely with and make recommendations to the Associate Director of needed program changes and communicate all issues in order to ensure quality of services.
  6. To provide 24 hour on–call responsibilities as scheduled.
  7. To assist and communicate with the scheduling department.
  8. To evaluate, provide supervision and assistance to weekday supervisors, awake supervisors, weekend supervisor and therapy coordinator.
  9. To attend IDT meetings and assist with developing individual plans.
  10. To monitor and ensure that the individual’s protocols, ISP, behavior plans and physical management plans are being followed.
  11. To attend management meeting and communicate with the management team any issues or concerns.
  12. To communicate and work with the Case Manager and Behavior Specialist to ensure an individual’s programming needs are being met.
  13. To monitor the purchase of necessary supplies.
  14. To monitor the monthly house budgets, monthly reviews and ensure they are turned in a timely manner.
  15. To complete unannounced visits on each shift monthly.
  16. To provide 1:1 supervision meetings with ICF supervisors and document the outcome of those meetings monthly
  17. To perform other functions as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Strong management background with a minimum of two years’ experience working with individuals with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities and/or relevant supervisory experience.
  • Ability to be insured as a vehicle driver by agency’s insurance program. A valid Tennessee Driver’s License.
  • Good knowledge of basic English sufficient to read instructions, keep records and write reports.
  • Successful completion of background and reference check. Successful completion of a drug screen.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to intervene physically on an occasional basis with aggressive and violent individuals including, but not limited to, the ability to engage in quick and exertive holding, stooping, bending, twisting, and turning.
  • Ability to physically assist individuals in daily activities, including, but not limited to, assistance in transfers, eating, bathing, dressing, and toileting.
  • Ability to perform repetitive bending and exertion movements daily including, but not limited to, those found in bed making, lifting laundry, and mopping.
  • Ability to perform small hand movements daily including, but not limited to, those involved in the hand assembly of small manufacturing parts.
  • Mobility sufficient to climb stairs daily and easily, enter and exit vans daily, and occasionally engage in running.
  • Ability to engage in physical exercise several times a week with individuals including, but not limited to walking, shooting basketball and pool exercise.
  • Visual and auditory ability to meet individuals’ needs and assure their safety.

Emotional Requirements

Ability to handle appropriately the stress which is created by job situations including, but not limited to, noise, conflicting demands for time and attention, and physically and/or verbally aggressive/combative individuals.
